Hello there! This is Yasemin, a professional tourist guide from Istanbul.
I was born and raised in this beautiful city. I graduated from Marmara University, Business Administration, and following that I’ve started to work in one of the big banks of the country. Although I have a promising career and a pretty good salary for my young age, very soon I’ve realized that I hated the job. Thinking life is too long to work in a job I hate and I’m still young enough to start it all over and do what I really want to do, I quit at the end of my second year. After a very tough study programme, taking a lot of exams and touring in all regions of the country, I finally got my guiding license from the Ministry of Tourism in 2008 and since then I have been doing my dream job.
As an English-speaking guide, I have hosted guests from all over the world. I have mostly guided visitors from the USA, UK, South Africa, Canada, Australia and İndia. As well as I have private tours with individuals, couples or small family groups, I also lead large-sized tourist groups in all parts of Turkey.
Because of my interest in history, while I was working as a guide I also took a master’s degree in History, in İstanbul University. Reading more about this land during my research period, only made me love this country and my job even more than before.
As a guide my priority is that visitors have “a time to remember” during their stay in Turkey, while they can understand the Turkish way of life. Turkey has so much to offer to people. It is an interesting country not only with its beautiful nature and old history but also with its diversity. It’s a bridge, geographically and culturally, between east and west. It’s the only secular country with such a big Muslim population. All those different aspects, religions and ethnicities come together in the everyday life. As a tourist, it’s almost impossible to understand and appreciate all these colours without the help of a local guide. I really enjoy to show the way to people to see the country and its people through an insider’s eyes. It’s the biggest fun for me to enjoy the beauties of the country together with my visitors. I do believe, both the pleasure of guiding and travelling is not only about visiting museums and talking about the history but chatting about people and traditions, politics and everyday life.
Last but not least, what I love to do during my tours is trying different dishes of our rich cuisine in every possibility. We have such a great variety of regional cuisines, there is something for every kind of foodies and I believe this is one of the best ways to know and enjoy a new culture.
With its food, with its hospitable people, with its cosmopolitan atmosphere and its diversity, Turkey is one of a kind. We can’t wait for you to contact with us to plan your trip in this amazing country.
